In the process of assembling this collection I have purchased models made by many different model brands. On this page I will try to provide an evaluation based on my personal experience with each of these brands through a rough comparison ranking. For some brands I have a number of models, for others only a few, or one. So, please keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive evaluation just an opinion based on my particular limited observations.

You will, of course, pay more for a model that is a work of art and less for one that is merely nice. However, quality will always keep its value or even appreciate over time. Not all brands that manufacture diecast model cars are listed here. Since many brands are closely equal in quality a ranking by groups is appropriate.

There are a number of considerations that went into this ranking. To list a few:

• faithfulness to original car.
• whether or not doors, hood, trunk open.
• any compromise in appearance due to opening features.
• quality of assembly, paint etc.
• whether or not unglued little parts fell out of a brand new previously unopened box.
• quality of materials used, wheels, upholstery, wipers, mirrors, etc.
• appearance of wheels, real metal wire or plastic.
• quality of box supplied from full enclosed display case to plastic frame
